Switch/NIC is stopping its service to register .ch and .li domain names and wants us to transfer our domain names to other registrars.
I personally transfered all my .ch domains to Infomaniak, simply because it's a serious company, and allow us to have an account with them for domain names only (+1 email address) even without hosting with them, And .ch domains are only CHF 8.90 per year.
Furthermore, during the transfer, you do not need to pay another year, Infomaniak will bill you only a few weeks before your original expiration date.
Here is how to proceed.
The information page on nic.ch :
Then follow the instruction on Infomaniak, this page shows you how to do :
Note: Under point 2 Authorization code, you should have been able to click on Switch video, but there is an error and one sees OVH video instead. I contacted Infomaniak to tell them. EDIT April 7, 2015 : Now correct.
In short, you will need to get the authorization code (in your Switch/Nic account, under Domain Names -> transfer), you'll get them by email, and if you have several names, you can have a unique code for all of them.
Then go to Infomaniak site, if you already have an account, be sure to be logged in. Start the transfer process by entering the name. Then you'll have to choose a contact (you) and enter the authorization code you previously got.
Don't change the nameservers information (what makes a name to point to the correct server, where is hosted your site), they will be copied as is and will work without interruption. If you are among Virtuaza customers on our own servers, the nameservers are either ns1.virtuaza.net and ns2.virtuaza.net, or ns1.virtuaza.com and ns0.xname.org and ns1.xname.org.
Do not hesitate to contact me if needed.
